G. Donald Gale said, “A pessimist, they say, sees a glass of water as being half empty; an optimist sees the same glass as half full. But a giving person sees a glass of water and starts looking for someone who might be thirsty. Do you know of someone who is giving of the time and talents? From time to time we recognize people in our community who go above and beyond to volunteer. From simple thank yous to the Mary Jane Lynch Memorial Award, CHECU encourages members and citizens to lend a helping hand. The Mary Jane Lynch Memorial Award is presented by Community of Healthcare Employees Credit Union in honor of Mary Jane’s selfless service to the Summit Health Organization. Dedicating thousands of volunteer hours, Mary Jane volunteered at Summit Health until her death at the age of 91. A loyal credit union member, Mary Jane was the very likeness of the motto credit unions’ were founded upon “People Helping People”. Her daughter, Mary Ellen Dihel served on the credit union board as a volunteer for more than a decade. So it is in their honor and legacy we ask our membership to nominate the next CHECU Volunteer of the Year.
